Monterrey, Mexico

Angel Santiago

Angel is a lifelong brother from Baja California, Mexico and he is currently the Household head of our house in Monterrey. Angel is an Elder in training and works as an accountant for The Servants of the Word for the Latin-American region. He loves to serve the youth program of the Sword of the Spirit communities in the region.

William Contreras

William is a lifelong committed brother who lives in Monterrey, Mexico. He is originally from Cuenca, Ecuador. He studied system engineering. He mainly works with young professionals, and as steward of the SW house in Monterrey. He also loves singing, playing the guitar, and playing a few other instruments.

David Mijares

David is a lifelong brother originally from Monterrey, México and currently the Presiding Elder of the brotherhood. He studied Electronic and Computers Engineering in the “Tecnologico of Monterrey”. In the last few years, David has been doing missionary work, mainly in Latin America, helping in the establishment of Christian communities and in the evangelization and care of young people. He continues to do so, on top of also promoting our vocation to live single for the Lord and training young men who are interested in our life in the Servants of the Word. He likes to climb mountains and run marathons, though he is getting a bit old for that.

David Huitron

David is an affiliate-in-training now living in the International Formation House in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is from Monterrey, Mexico and he has a degree in Business Administration from "Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León". He worked for several years with the youth in his local community called Jésed, of which he has been part of since he was young. He's played football for most of his life and has now also taken on running. He likes Urban art, such as break dancing and he also likes to draw.

Esteban Brenes

Esteban is a child of God. Originally from Costa Rica, he is currently living in Monterrey, Mexico as an affiliate in training to discern his vocation, where he serves at the local outreach. Esteban has an ear for languages, and he's passionate about evangelism and ecumenism, among other '-ism's. If you happen to live with him you'll notice he constantly references animated movies but not nearly as often as he bursts into singing out of the blue.

Fernando Ayala

Fernando is a lifelong committed (2003) brother from Monterrey, Mexico. He has been serving the SOS youth in the IA Region since 1998. He also serves as a Steward, Trainer, Vocational Director and other responsibilities in our SW life. He serves in the local community (Jesed) as a coordinator of the University District. He is the director of Kairos for the Latin-American Region, responsible for: events, programs and leadership training. His prayer is that many young people have a personal encounter with The Lord Jesus so they are able to make their decisions centered in the Lord and as his disciples.

Guillermo Camilo

Guillermo is a lifelong-committed brother from the Dominican Republic. He graduated from the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo in 2013 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has worked with the local youth programs connected to our houses in Belfast and Monterrey. Currently, he lives in our house in Monterrey, serving with college students and as the administrator of the GAP missionary program in Monterrey. He likes outdoor activities, especially hiking and camping trips. He also enjoys cooking a nice meal for those who are nice to him.

Nate Stoll

Nate is an affiliate in training now living in the International Formation House in Ann Arbor. He is from Lansing, Michigan, who grew up in the Work of Christ Community. He graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in secondary education. He used to serve with UCO Grand Rapids, reaching out to students and calling them to live out the gospel. In his free time, Nate enjoys backpacking, canoeing, and playing guitar.

Pepe Vásquez

Pepe is a lifelong committed brother who serves full time among young professionals in the Latin American Region. He does pastoral training, teaching, formation, conferences, and retreats.

Salvador Martinez

Salvador (or Chava) is a committed brother. He was born in Monterrey, Mexico and is currently living there. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Organization Development. Chava is now helping to fundraise resources for the youth programs and for some brothers to be on mission full-time. He is helping to spread the gospel among college students in MCU, a university outreach in Mexico. He likes playing the guitar and other instruments, and he loves playing soccer and volleyball.

San José, Costa Rica

Rodrigo Sett

Rodrigo (a.k.a Chino), was born in Guatemala and is a lifelong committed brother who lives in Costa Rica and serves as Household Head there. He oversees the local university outreach and also serves as director for the Kairos Summer Program and the Gap Program in Central America. He enjoys watching or playing almost any team sport, drawing, music (especially air drums), and a good cup of coffee in the morning.

Francisco Aguilar

Panch is originally from Ensenada, México. He holds degrees in Industrial Engineering and Business Administration. He has served in University Outreach Programs for the past 20 years. He also has extensive experience in Nonprofit Management, Fundraising Projects, and Event Planning. During a brief time, he ventured as a Market Analyst and taught as an Adjunct Professor at the School of Business of the Tecnológico de Monterrey. He is currently more focused in training men in leadership skills and Christian character around Central America. He is the Safeguarding Officer for our Household in Monterrey, México.

Miguel Vargas

Miguel is a lifelong committed brother from Costa Rica, where he studied Classical Philology at the Universidad de Costa Rica. He has an MA in Theology at Sacred Heart, Detroit. He is now serving in the young professionals outreach in Costa Rica, where he also helps in ecumenical development for the community. Miguel develops and translates teaching for the Spanish speaking members of the Sword of the Spirit. When he is not working, you will find him reading, watching a soccer game, making popcorn or working on his novel.

Paulo Machado

Paulo is a lifelong committed brother from Brazil. He grew up in São José dos Campos (in the state of São Paulo) and studied Business Administration. He was a volunteer missionary for a year in Angola, Africa, and then joined the Servants of the Word in Monterrey, Mexico. When he was younger, Paulo worked as a butcher and therefore loves to cook meat. His specialty is steak on a skewer. He is a coordinator at the Community Fuente de Vida in Costa Rica working with the youth programs. Like most Brazilians, he loves soccer.

Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA

Brian Laba

Brian made his lifelong commitment in 2009. He lives in Ann Arbor where he is working as a mental health counselor at Crossroads Counseling where his specialty is working with university students. He moved to Ann Arbor in 2020 after spending the previous decade doing campus mission work, community building, and getting a master's in counseling in Grand Rapids . He was born and raised in Rochester Hills, Michigan, has three lovely sisters, and attended the University of Michigan where he studied ecology and first met the brothers.

Dan Aganon

Dan Aganon is an affiliate in training and is also part of the Sword of the Spirit Community called “Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon”. He finished Sports and Wellness Management in the University of Santo Tomas. He is currently serving as full time missionary in Christ’s Youth in Action. He enjoys playing basketball and going on long hikes.

Franco De Guzman

Franco is an affiliate-in-training from the Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon Community in Manila. He studied Materials Engineering at the University of the Philippines-Diliman and has done youthwork in Manila and Beirut. He loves to be in the outdoors and you can probably find him fishing or birdwatching in the parks of Ann Arbor.

Galo Cobos

Galo is an affiliate in training currently living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador. He graduated with a degree in Economics from Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral. He is serving in maintenance, cooking for the brothers, and studying some courses in the international formation house. Galo likes playing soccer and workout at the gym.

Gustavo Endara

Gustavo is from Quito, Ecuador, and currently living in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as an affiliate-in-training. He studied Sound and Acoustic Engineering at Universidad de las Américas. He worked with the university outreach in Quito and in Monterrey. He likes music recording and running with his brothers.

Luis Alejandro Arce

Luis is a brother originally from Costa Rica. He studied Media Communications and more recently a master's degree in Theology. As a Servant of the Word he has lived in Costa Rica, Mexico, and the US. He is currently leading the International Formation Household in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He enjoys outdoor sports, especially biking.

Marco Madrigal

Marco is an affiliate-in-training originally from Costa Rica, where he served with the youth program for several years. This was his main occupation in Monterrey, Mexico, too, where he lived before moving to Ann Arbor. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidad de Costa Rica. He enjoys eating legumes, watching movies, talking with friends and biking.

Nico Angleys

Nico grew up in France, just outside Geneva, in the Alps. He now serves as the Regional Elder for the North American Region after serving for six years as the Director of the International Formation House in Ann Arbor. In May 2012 he completed his Masters in Theology at Sacred Heart Seminary, writing his thesis on the Lord's Day. Part of his heart remains in the mountains, to which he returns as often as he can. He is an amateur photographer who dabbles in wildlife and macro photography.  These days he's known to break a sweat on his mountain bike on the trails of Michigan and at times get quite fascinated in obscure bird behavior observed in Ann Arbor. Stan Mathay

Stan Mathay is a lifelong committed brother who lives in our house in Chelsea. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and also has a Master Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. He has been a teacher most of his adult life, and has taught in elementary, high school, and college levels.

Don DeSmith

Don is a lifelong brother who lives in Chelsea. He grew up in Dundee, Michigan. Don works full time at Servant Systems, a software development company specializing in software for franchise systems. His hobbies include culture (specifically the effect of technology on culture), economics, politics, social justice issues and water skiing. His favorite authors are Jacques Ellul, Jacques Maritain, Christopher Dawson, Richard Stivers, and Friedrich von Hayek. Dan Keating

Dan currently leads our house at our Brotherhood Center in Chelsea, Michigan. He continues to serve as a professor of theology at Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit, Michigan, where he teaches on Scripture, the Church Fathers, evangelization, and ecumenism.

Dick LaCroix

Dick is one of the earliest brothers who made his lifelong commitment years ago. Dick now serves full time for the brotherhood as property manager for the brotherhood center. Dick grew up in Midland, Michigan, and enjoys running to keep in shape.

Larry Hunt

Larry is a lifelong brother who grew up in Detroit and now lives in Chelsea, Michigan. Larry works full time at Servant Systems, a software development company specializing in software for franchise systems. His hobbies include birding, stargazing (when it is not too cold), astronomy, and genealogy research.

Mike Kramer

Mike is a lifelong committed brother who lives in Chelsea, Michigan. He is originally from Alliance, Nebraska. He has two undergraduate degrees from Chadron State College and a Master's in Education from Eastern Michigan University. He is the Servants of the Word events administrator and property manager for our property in Chelsea. He enjoys playing harmonicas and traveling.

Stu Ferguson

Stu is a lifelong committed brother who lives in Chelsea and works full-time for The Servants of the Word. He currently oversees business operations in Michigan and is responsible for our finances, internationally. Stu was born and raised in Minnesota. When not in his office or away on business, he can oftentimes be found outside working, or even doing a bit of hunting.

Ted Kennedy

Ted is a lifelong committed brother who lives in Chelsea, Michigan (just west of Ann Arbor). He works for the Trenton Corporation, overseeing their Information Systems and helping with accounting and tax compliance. (Trenton was started by Ted’s grandfather in 1950, has passed down through the family and is now owned by Ted’s brother, Charley). Ted is also the North American regional controller of the brotherhood, and still dabbles in software development whenever he gets a chance. For fun, he teaches brothers how to handle their finances well and has developed software to help them do that.

Bruce Franson

Bruce is a lifelong committed brother who works at Servant Systems where he helps create software for franchising businesses whose profits help support The Servants of the Word. Don Schwager

Don has been a lifelong member of the brotherhood since its beginning in 1971. He is the author of Daily Scripture, a daily Scripture meditation website, and editor for Living Bulwark, an online magazine for the Sword of the Spirit. He went to St. Paul Seminary in Saginaw, Michigan for six years (high school and two years of college) and completed his undergraduate degree in English and Fine Arts at The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1970. He also studied at George Washington University and the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. for a couple of summers. Don recently returned to Detroit, Michigan after serving for 18 years (2003-2021) in London and the Europe and Middle East region of the Sword of the Spirit.

Gary Sacharski

Gary is a lifelong brother who first began living with the brothers in 1973 after studying Forestry at the University of Michigan for 2 years. He worked as a carpenter and contractor until 1986, when he joined a group of brothers in Costa Rica, and lived there five years. He then returned to Michigan and began working for a civil engineering firm, and began studying toward a degree. He graduated in 1996 from Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He has worked as a Civil Engineer since then.

Mark Whitters

Mark Whitters is a lifelong committed brother and one of the original members of the SW household in Detroit. He has lived there for over ten years. He commutes to Ypsilanti for his work in the Department of History and Philosophy at Eastern Michigan University. During the summers, he often volunteers for the Detroit Summer Outreach. His hobbies are jogging and cross-country skiing, languages, and (more) studying and writing.

Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

Adrian Menezes

Adrian grew up in Mumbai, India, and joined the Servants of the word in 2013. He is a lifelong member of the brotherhood. He has a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Mumbai. He has spent time serving the high school youth program in the community in Manila and currently volunteers with University Christian Outreach. Adrian also helps develop young leaders and youth outreaches with the Sword of the Spirit communities in India.

Noel Armando Delgadillo

Noel was born and raised in Miami, Florida. In 2006, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Florida International University. He has been involved in student ministry with University Christian Outreach (UCO) ever since, living in Belfast, Ann Arbor, and Grand Rapids. Noel became a lifelong member of the brotherhood in 2014. In 2024, he began working for UCO’s National Office in Staff Training and Regional Programs. Additionally, Noel serves as a Coordinator for the Light of Christ Community as well as a Temporary Elder for the Servants of the Word.

Peter Mayoros

Peter is a fully committed brother who grew up in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 2015 with a degree in Industrial & Operations Engineering. He is currently serving with UCO Grand Rapids, reaching out to students and calling them to live out the gospel. Peter loves to have conversations about life, watch and talk about sports, as well as cook and bake for others.

Brian LaLonde

Brian, originally from Essexville, Michigan and a University of Michigan graduate, made his lifelong commitment to The Servants of the Word in September, 2009. He served as mission director for University Christian Outreach in Lansing, MI from 2006-2012. Currently, he works for Kairos North America and you'll find him on wilderness adventures in the summer while leading the middle-school ministry. He's also Webmaster for a number of websites, including the Servants of the Word site.

Dave Quintana

Dave (many call him “Q”) is a lifelong committed brother. After many years serving in leadership within our brotherhood and within the Sword of the Spirit in various parts of the world, Q is now living in Michigan and serving the brotherhood in support roles. He enjoys biking and hiking, and almost any outdoor activity.

Dan Rinke

Dan is a lifelong committed brother who lives in Lansing. He is currently the financial controller for the North American region of the brotherhood.

Joseph Mathias

Joseph is a lifelong committed brother who serves in University Christian Outreach in Lansing. He graduated from the University of Michigan and has completed a Master's in Theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. He's also the local bard who has written inspired songs of worship commonly sung within our circles.

John Yocum

John is a lifelong committed brother from Jackson, Michigan. After having spent 15 years in the UK and 7 years in the Philippines, he returned to the US in 2011. John has degrees in History and Philosophy and a Doctorate in Theology from The University of Oxford. He has taught Theology at Oxford, at Loyola School of Theology in Manila and at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit, Michigan.

Mike Shaughnessy

Mike is a lifelong committed brother who lives in Lansing. He works full time for the Sword of the Spirit as the Kairos International Director and as a Regional Missionary Coordinator. He is also the founder of Grandly - Strategic Grandparenting, a non-profit that equips grandparents to pass on their faith to their grandchildren.

Malaquias Garcia

Malaquías García is originally from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico and studied nursing. He is a lifelong committed brother and he is living in Ann Arbor for a couple more years (until 2025) to be part of the Formation Household as a trainer and to be working for UCO Regional as a Chapter Supervisor. “Palax” (as many people call him) worked for several years in the university student outreach (MCU) in Monterrey, Mexico before moving to Michigan. He likes music, photography, reading, and watching good movies. He also likes to practice all kinds of sports but is recently more into running.

Martin Steinbereithner

Dr. Martin Steinbereithner is Viennese, currently residing in Chelsea, Michigan (USA). He is the director of Communications and Development for the Servants of the Word. Previously he worked for twenty years in campus ministry in North America, Lebanon and England and for over the last ten years with Christian communities in the Middle East, Poland, Russia, Belgium, Germany, Austria, France, the UK and Africa. Martin holds a doctorate in organizational behavior and non-profit management. He is a research associate of the Nonprofit Research Group at the Vienna University of Business and Economics and consults with various faith-based non-profit organizations. William Cannon

Will is a lifelong committed brother. Originally from Norcross, Georgia, he moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2008 to attend the University of Michigan where he graduated with a degree in Audio Engineering and Electrical Engineering. He now serves with UCO Pittsburgh as a campus Mission Leader. With what remains of his time he fills it with playing music, running, and backpacking.

Ipil, Philippines

Jake Yap

Jake is a lifelong committed brother. He finished his doctoral studies at the University of Oxford (UK) and presently works as professor of theology at the Jesuit-run Loyola School of Theology. He also serves as a coordinator in the local community, Ang Ligaya Ng Panginoon.

Jerome Quiring

After spending some time doing mission in the US, JR is now back in the Philippines as a lifelong committed brother. He first got connected to the brotherhood as a student at the University of the Philippines Manila where he got his degree in Public Health. He continues to serve as a hub leader for Christ’s Youth in Action (the local university outreach). He oversees the evangelism program and leadership training for two main universities in Quezon City. On the side, he is also working for the high school program of the local community Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon (The Joy of the Lord).

Raoul Roncal

Raoul is a lifelong committed brother. He works full-time as a theology professor at the Ateneo de Manila University and serves as the main leader for the local Kairos work in Manila.

Robin Ramos

Robin is an affiliate-in-training living in Manila. He started in Christ’s Youth in Action in 2018, and then joined their local community, Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon, in 2019. He graduated from the University of the Philippines Manila and is a licensed Physical Therapist. He is now serving as a full-time staffer in their outreach to young professionals called Ang Lingkod Ng Panginoon as the Executive Assistant. He enjoys all types of sports, including Ultimate Frisbee and Spikeball, and enjoys eating.

Sucat, Philippines

Francis Iturralde

Francis is an associate to the Brotherhood. He currently works as administrator for the Brotherhood and does community-building work for the Asian Region of the Sword of the Spirit. He also serves as head of the worship ministry of the local community.

Joseph Uy

Joseph Uy is a fully committed brother currently living in the south of Metro Manila. He was born and raised in the Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon community in Manila and he graduated from the University of the Philippines - Diliman with a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics. He is currently serving part-time in Christ’s Youth in Action and part-time in the finance team of the Servants of the Word Philippines. Joseph Piquero

Jopeng or Jops is a lifelong committed brother who serves as the Valhalla Household Head. He is servings as an Elder and concurrently as Controller. He also serves as a Coordinator in the local youth programs of the local SOS community (Ligaya Ng Panginoon).

Peter Jess Legaspi

Valhalla, Philippines

Carlos Palattao

Carlos is an affiliate-in-training living in Manila. He recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science from the University of the Philippines Manila, along with being able to publish a research paper on Machine Learning right before finishing. During college, he served for a couple of years in Christ's Youth in Action Unified Manila Chapter. Currently, he is working as a Software QA Engineer, and is now also an affiliate of the Ligaya ng Panginoon Community (The Joy of the Lord). He enjoys playing sports, listening to music, and ethical hacking.

Dave O'Connor

After living in Detroit for the past 19 years, teaching in a local school and helping to lead our community outreach there, Dave is now back in the Philippines where he served for several years during the late nineties. He is gradually taking on overall responsibility for our brotherhood’s finances there, as well as serving again in the outreach of Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon (The Joy of the Lord) community to those living in economically depressed areas of Metro Manila. Dave did this during his previous tenure in the Philippines, and is very happy to be engaged again in such service.

Jim Orbe

Jim is a lifelong brother who serves as the Regional Elder in Manila. He also serves as the Kairos Asia Director.

Karel Tan

Karel is an affiliate-in-training living in Manila. He was born and raised in the Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon community. He graduated from the University of the Philippines - Manila and is a newly licensed Medical Doctor. He now serves in the local university outreach called Christ’s Youth in Action.

Kenneth Carandang

Kenneth is a lifelong committed brother currently living in Manila. He is a graduate of the University of the Philippines and is a licensed Mechanical Engineer. He now serves in the university outreach Christ's Youth in Action as the leader of the Unified Manila Chapter - a chapter comprised of students from a cluster of universities in downtown Manila. Kenneth enjoys playing basketball and Ultimate Frisbee and going on food trips.

Mon Samson

Mon is a lifelong committed brother. He is currently the Director for the young professionals work of a number of communities in Asia Pacific. He is also doing community-building work to help start Christian communities for young families.

Mindanao, Philippines

Abyong Calo

Abyong is a lifelong committed brother, currently serving as household head of the Mindanao household. He has a degree in Electrical Engineering. He works for Ang Lingkod Ng Panginoon, the local community's nationwide outreach to single young professionals and also oversees the outreach's branches in UAE and Singapore. Abyong holds a black belt in Karate and loves photography, painting and carpentry.

Dale Arconado

Dale is a lifelong committed brother. He is from Bangued, Abra in the northern Island of the Philippines. He grew up in Manila, eventually graduating from CSB - De La Salle with a degree in Business Administration. At the height of the pandemic, he successfully finished a Graduate Studies Diploma in Exercise and Sports Sciences at University of the Philippines, College of Human Kinetics. He serves part-time staff at Kairos Asia, the umbrella youth ministry in the region and is helping with the high-school and university outreach programs while being based in the Holy Trinity Community in Davao City. Dale enjoys playing chess and still plays pick up basketball games.

Jojo Baquiano

Jojo "Jobaqs" Baquiano is a lifelong committed brother. He works as a full-time software programmer for CD Technologies Asia, Inc., a legal software development firm. He also serves as a pastoral leader for single men in the local SOS community.

Joshua Escarro

Joshua Escarro is an affiliate-in-training living in the Mindanao household from the Philippines. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Santo Tomas. He is currently serving as a Kairos Missionary in the Philippines. He enjoys playing sports and loves to take siestas.

Belfast, Northern Ireland

Daniel Dunkl

Daniel is a committed brother from Vienna, Austria. After getting a degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from the Vienna University of Technology, Daniel has lived and served with the brothers in Northern Ireland, Michigan, and London. He is currently serving in the university outreach in Belfast. Among the many things Daniel enjoys doing are adventures, mountaineering, distance running, workouts, languages, and playing the piano.

Doug Smith

Doug is a lifelong committed brother who lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He has served in Youth Initiatives, a cross-community youth ministry in Belfast, since 1992. He is currently the management support officer for the organization, and served as the chief officer of Youth Initiatives from 2003-2018. Doug grew up in Ohio and enjoys running and hiking around Ireland.

Tadhg Lynch

Tadhg is a lifelong committed brother from Dublin, Ireland where he studied English and History. He is an Elder in training and he works for the local and regional student organization running retreats, programmes and mission trips. Philip Morrison

Phil Morrison is a lifelong committed brother who comes from Downpatrick, Northern Ireland. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland with a degree in Social Anthropology in 2011. He currently lives and works in Belfast, working with two student ministries; UCO and the Anglican and Methodist Chaplaincy at Queens University Belfast, where he also attends church. Phil has a focus on discipleship and building community amongst students. Amongst other things he enjoys playing the saxophone and following rugby and football.

Ryan Morales

Ryan is an affiliate-in-training now living in the International Formation House in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is originally from the Philippines, born and raised in the Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon community in Manila. He graduated from the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas, with a degree in Secondary Education major in Religious Education. He spent a year in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where he served as a staff worker in the University Christian Outreach in the city. Ryan enjoys playing basketball and eating and cooking Filipino food.

Volodimir Bezulowsky

Volodimir is a lifelong committed brother who, after 20 years in London, has been living in Belfast since 2009. He works as a psychiatrist and EMDR therapist.

Lebanon

John Keating

John has recently completed two terms as the regional elder of The Servants of the Word in Asia, while serving in various roles of leadership in the Sword of the Spirit (the international community to which the Brotherhood belongs), both internationally and in the region of Asia. At this time, he is transitioning into a new set of responsibilities as the leader of a new household of The Servants of the Word in Beirut, Lebanon.

Joe Fahd

Joe grew up in the People of God community, a local Sword of the Spirit community in Lebanon and has been in contact with the brothers since an early age. He moved into training with the brothers in London in 2007. He survived a potentially life-threatening accident in 2009, and is fully recovered. Joe made his lifelong commitment in 2014 and served in London and Europe with university students, young professionals and in community building till 2020 when the brothers asked him to move to Lebanon to help start our new household there. He enjoys the outdoors, hosting people and talking about the Eastern churches.

Paul Codouni

Paul is a lifelong brother from Lebanon. He's lived in a few different places and as a result he speaks three and a half languages. He does student ministry in Lebanon with UCO and he's also an accidental techie: He's the project manager for Pray by Day, a daily prayer app, and he works in IT for the Sword of the Spirit. He enjoys board games, sleeping in igloos, and climbing up rivers, as well as a good movie.

Serge Saadeh

Serge is a fully committed brother from Lebanon. After getting degrees in Pure Physics and Mechanical Engineering, he moved to London to live with the brothers. He served in different capacities, including university and young professional outreach. He also made sure our house stayed clean and made sure the finances were in order. After that he moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan to live in our International Formation House. Serge is now living in Lebanon, and he does admin/finance and youth outreach. Serge loves all types of sports.

Thomas Touma

Thomas is an affiliate-in-training from the People of God community in Lebanon. He graduated from the Lebanese University in July 2022 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After completing his studies in Lebanon, he moved to London, where he served with Koinonia, a university outreach. He has now moved back to Lebanon, where he will be serving in the local UCO and helping to run a program that offers Christian spiritual retreats for high school students. He enjoys playing the guitar, biking, and hiking.

London, England

Andy Pettman

Andy is a lifelong committed brother who lives in London. Currently his work and service involves supervising UCO London (Koinonia), supporting our communities around Europe, building ecumenical relationships nationally and internationally, and serving as an elder in the Servants of the Word. Andy grew up in Guildford, England and made contact with the Servants of the Word via UCO when he came to London to study. As a brother Andy worked for BP and then for a small consulting company for a total of 19 years, whilst leading youth work as a volunteer, before beginning full time ministry in 2006. Andy is an Anglican and he is passionately committed to the ecumenical aspect of the Servants of the Word life.

Eroni Sotutu

Eroni is a lifelong committed brother from the Fiji Islands who is living in New Zealand to care for his mother. Eroni met The Servants of the Word while studying at the London School of Economics. His original plans to enter a diplomatic career (or related) for the Fiji government transformed into a career in ‘spiritual’ economics and Christian diplomacy in the Servants of the Word. Eroni has served as an elder in the brotherhood and has looked after the formation of brothers in the UK and Lebanon.

Jean Pierre Fahd

JP is originally from Lebanon where he grew up as part of the People of God Community and studied Computer Engineering. He made his lifelong commitment in September 2018 and currently lives in London. JP leads Koinonia, a university outreach that the brothers are connected to in Central London. He is also the Regional Steward for our Europe & Middle East region and looks after the finances for the network of communities we are a part of in Europe, as well as doing a bit of IT work. He enjoys reading, playing the guitar and a few other instruments, running and team sports.

Karl Codouni

Karl is a fully committed brother from the People of God community in Lebanon. After living with the Servants of the Word for a year in Lansing, two years in London, and two years in our International Formation House in Ann Arbor, he is now back in London where he is serving with Koinonia, a university campus ministry, and the youth program of the Antioch community in London. He also does some work for the Sword of the Spirit and some administrative work for our brotherhood. He graduated in May 2016 from the Lebanese American University with a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering. Before moving away from Lebanon, he was also serving the People of God community with outreach work.

Ken Noecker

Ken is a lifelong committed brother, currently serving in the EME Region. He spent 25 years (1986 to 2011) as a member of the Asian Region of The Servants of the Word based in Manila, Philippines. Ken was born and raised in Nebraska. He completed his university studies in Minnesota and his graduate studies in the Philippines.

Richard Perry

Richard is from Wales, made his lifelong commitment in 1992, and is the current household head in London . He works quarter-time for the brotherhood as a central steward, and three-quarters-time for the Sword of the Spirit as the international executive secretary. That means a lot of time in an office, shuffling paper and counting pennies. As if that wasn’t enough fun, he also serves on a number of non-profit boards and diocesan finance committees. He studied accounting and finance at the London School of Economics, but now wishes he had studied history – how different life might have been...
