From the Presiding Elder

You have in front of you our Easter newsletter, full of news from around the world. Our brother Dave O’Connor reports on the inspiring work which he and the local community in Manila are doing among the poor: not simply handouts but building real life communities and empowering the people to take on leadership in their environment.
Our Mexican brothers recount how, over the years, the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity every January has become an opportunity to build relationships and trust between Catholic and Protestant churches in Monterrey, Mexico. We are grateful that we can be involved in that venture and pray that the work of unity will continue all over that -in majority- Catholic country.
Our brothers in Europe are becoming more active on the continent: a recent “temporary mission household” in Poland was a response to the growing opportunities in Poland and beyond. May God multiply our resources for more ventures of this kind in many other European countries.
Finally in the US, our brothers are partnering with University Christian Outreach to take young men on mission trips. Some of us envy these men for visiting the stunningly beautiful country of Costa Rica, but as you will see from the photograph they actually did some really hard work.
Under the miscellaneous news you will see that we continue our efforts to train and equip all of our brothers in the area of safeguarding. We ask your prayers for our brothers Ken Noecker and Ted Kennedy as they battle with cancer.
Be assured of our prayers for all of you: we cherish your friendship and support!
May the Lord bless you abundantly as we celebrate His resurrection during this Easter season.
Your brother David Mijares
Presiding Elder
